These results are both for cases litigated by the partners at Deaton/Shaw, as well as results for our clients whose cases were referred out to other counsel.  Needless to say, there are many mesothelioma cases that do not get anywhere near these levels of compensation.  This is true in our practice, and in everybody else's as well.  What the above cases have in common is provable exposure to asbestos-containing products manufactured or sold by viable companies.  You will also notice that there is a regional disparity — cases filed in certain parts of the country settle for more money than the same cases would settle for in another part of the country.  This is because the USA is a big, diverse country, and people in different regions treat injured victims in different ways.  A good analog is charitable giving.  Of the citizens of our fifty states, the good people of Mississippi give the highest percentage of their income to charity — the skinflints in New England (e.g., Massachusetts, New Hampshire) give the lowest.  This provides a rough (but far from perfect) guide.
